To revitalize the tourism sector and manage visitor flows more effectively, the government formalized these promotional rates through Ministerial Resolution N° 000440-2024-MC. The initiative features ten tourist routes to balance visitor distribution and preserve the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

New prices and tourist routes

The promotional rates provide options tailored to different visitor needs:

Route 1-A:

  • General: 112 soles
  • Students and minors: 80 soles

Circuit 2 and route 2-A:

  • General: 64 soles
  • Students and minors: 32 soles

Routes 1-B and 1-D:

  • Available only during peak season, with the same pricing as Circuit 2.

Route 3-A (Huayna Picchu):

  • General: 112 soles

This approach ensures better management of tourist flow, promotes the site’s preservation and delivers a positive economic impact on local communities by encouraging responsible tourism.

Entry requirements

Visitors must present:

  • A valid ID (DNI, foreign residence card, or passport).
  • Students: A higher education ID issued by SUNEDU, the Ministry of Education, or their university/technical institution, featuring personal details, a photograph, and an expiration date.

With this initiative, Machu Picchu in Cusco reaffirms its position as one of the world’s premier tourist destinations, adapting to modern visitor needs while safeguarding its cultural and natural heritage for future generations.
