Our Trekking Equipment - TreXperience

Our Camping Equipment

At TreXperience, we take care of your comfort on every trek because we know that proper rest is essential to recharge your energy and fully enjoy an adventure in the Andes.

However, our camping setup is about more than tents, sleeping mats, and trekking gear. It also includes the people who make each day in the mountains possible. Porters, cooks, muleteers, and guides work together to make every journey safe, comfortable, and memorable.

The People Behind Each Campsite

Every member of the TreXperience team plays an essential role in the operation. Their experience, knowledge of the trails, and ability to work together allow us to organize camps in remote places where the comforts of conventional accommodation are not available.

  • Porters: On routes where porter service is available, they carry tents, food, cooking equipment, and other essentials for the group. They also help set up and take down the campsites.
  • Muleteers: On routes that use pack animals, they are responsible for guiding and caring for them while transporting shared equipment and the permitted weight of travelers' luggage.
  • Cooks: They organize the camp kitchen and prepare breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and hot drinks along the route. Their work requires careful planning, experience, and the ability to cook in remote locations.
  • Guides and coordinators: They lead the trek, stay in communication with the support team, and coordinate schedules, the group's pace, and arrival times at each rest stop and campsite.
  • Drivers and tourist transportation: Our drivers provide safe and punctual transportation to the main attractions and starting points of each trek. At the end of the experience, they also ensure a comfortable and relaxing return to Cusco.

While travelers continue along the trail, part of the team moves ahead to prepare the next rest stop. This means that at the end of the day, the group arrives to find the tents already set up, common areas organized, and meals being prepared.

Trekking Equipment

A good night's sleep can make a big difference during a multi-day trek. That is why we carefully select equipment designed to provide protection, practicality, and comfort across the different landscapes and weather conditions of the Andes.

Our tents also provide enough space to organize your belongings, change comfortably, and get a good night's rest before continuing the adventure the next day.

  • Spacious, Waterproof Tents

After several hours of hiking, having a comfortable place to rest is essential. Our tents are designed to handle changing mountain conditions while providing protection from wind, moisture, and rain.

  • Salka Glamp: A Special Night Beneath Salkantay

One of the highlights of our routes to Machu Picchu is our exclusive Salka Glamp, located along the Salkantay route at the foot of Salkantay Mountain and away from the busiest areas of the trail.

This campsite offers an adventure glamping experience with spacious tents, open mountain views, and a peaceful setting to rest after visiting Humantay Lake and before continuing toward the highest points of the route.

  • Sleeping Mats

Our TreXperience trekking tours include foam sleeping mats that provide insulation from the cold and moisture of the ground. They create a more comfortable surface for resting and recovering your energy during the night.

Inflatable sleeping mats are also available to rent, making them a great option for travelers who want an extra level of comfort at camp.

  • Dining and Kitchen Tents

Our dining tents provide a sheltered space away from the wind, sun, and rain, where travelers can comfortably enjoy the meals prepared along the route.

More than just a place for breakfast or dinner, this space is where travelers can spend time with fellow hikers, guides, and team members. Here, everyone shares stories from the day, reviews the next day's itinerary, and creates memories that become part of the adventure.

The camp kitchen is set up in a separate area, where our cooks organize the ingredients, utensils, and equipment needed to prepare each meal.

  • Portable Toilets and Private Toilet Tents

Hygiene and privacy are important during a multi-day trek. For this reason, on routes where these services are provided, we offer portable toilets and private toilet tents.

These facilities are set up and maintained by the camping team so travelers can use them with greater comfort and privacy throughout the journey.

  • Portable Oxygen and First Aid Kit

Safety is an important part of planning every trek. Our guides and assistants receive first aid training and carry a first aid kit prepared to handle minor situations that may arise along the route.

They also carry portable oxygen to provide an initial response to possible altitude-related symptoms while the traveler's condition is assessed and the appropriate steps are determined for each situation.

  • Communication Devices

Communication is essential during any mountain expedition. The TreXperience field team uses radios or satellite phones to coordinate the trek and maintain contact between guides and campsites.

These devices help coordinate schedules, provide updates on the group's progress, and organize the necessary response to unexpected situations in areas with limited or no mobile coverage.

  • Duffle Bag

On our multi-day treks, we provide a duffle bag for storing the clothing and personal belongings travelers will use at the campsites.

Porters or muleteers carry this bag to the next rest stop, following the weight allowance established for each itinerary. This allows hikers to enjoy the trail with only a small daypack containing the essentials they need during the day.
