An initiative designed to revitalize tourism and position Peru as the top tourist destination in Latin America by 2030.
Peru is setting its sights on becoming the top tourist leader in Latin America by 2030 through the innovative Plan 60, which aims to revitalize and expand its tourism sector. The Minister of Foreign Trade and Tourism announced this ambitious initiative, which aims not only to recover pre-pandemic levels of inbound tourism but also to boost the tourism sector's GDP growth significantly.
The Peruvian government is focusing on improving critical infrastructure, such as expanding Jorge Chavez Airport in Lima and Alejandro Velasco Astete Airport in Cusco, which is expected to increase the country's airport capacity. Additionally, efforts are underway to attract more international flight frequencies and new airlines, aligning with the goal of boosting both domestic and international tourism.
Plan 60 also involves comprehensive collaboration with regional and local governments, as well as the private sector, to ensure the effective and sustainable implementation of tourism strategies. These measures will boost tourism and generate approximately 1.5 million jobs, positively impacting society.
With these steps, Peru is firmly positioning itself to transform its tourism landscape and achieve its vision of becoming the preferred destination in Latin America.
