Good news for travelers! Daily in-person sales of 1,000 tickets to Machu Picchu are now available at the ticket office

The Peruvian Ministry of Culture has implemented a new system for the in-person sale of 1,000 tickets to Machu Picchu per day at the Cultural Center office in the town of Aguas Calientes.

This measure comes in the middle of the high season, in response to the increase in visitors seeking to secure their tickets to Machu Picchu without having purchased them in advance through the official website of Machu Picchu, which is the usual recommendation.

Service will be provided through five active counters operating at the same time, with priority given to people with disabilities. The best part: you don't need travel agents or intermediaries, and you can pay with cards, QR codes (Yape or Plin), or cash. However, once the 1,000 daily tickets are sold out, sales are closed until the next day.

This in-person system is part of an agreement with the local community to promote fairer and more sustainable tourism, and is in addition to the 4,600 tickets to Machu Picchu available online through the official website mentioned above.

Tickets to Machu Picchu according to the season

During the high season, from June 19 to November 2, plus December 30 and 31, the maximum capacity allowed at Machu Picchu is 5,600 visitors per day. In the low season, the figure is adjusted to 4,500 people, prioritizing the conservation of this archaeological site.

With this improvement, the objective is clear: to organize access, avoid endless lines, and offer a better experience for those who dream of visiting Machu Picchu, while caring for cultural heritage and strengthening the local economy.
