The Mollepata local municipality, which is in control of Humantay Lake and Salkantay Mountain, has declared a temporary closure of both tourist attractions due to the overflow of an important river in the Soraypampa district.

This natural occurrence resulted in the flooding of neighboring dwellings and an interruption to both the Humantay and Salkantay treks. In order to remedy the situation in the next days, the famous sites will be closed until the following Monday, December 18th.
