The city of Pisco is getting ready to welcome 10,000 visitors for Pisco Sour Day, celebrated on the first Saturday of February. Eduardo Jáuregui, president of the Paracas Chamber of Tourism and Foreign Trade (Capatur), shared the news during a press conference, where he unveiled the official event schedule.

The festivities will include the crowning of the 2025 Pisco Sour Queen in Paracas, along with a series of conferences at the Club Atlético Pisqueño, covering topics on the history and economic impact of pisco in Peru. The main event will take place on Saturday, February 1, in Pisco’s Plaza de Armas, featuring live performances and a tasting fair where 10 pisco producers from the region will showcase different varieties of Peru’s iconic national drink.

Pisco Sour consumption and export growth

Jáuregui highlighted a 20% increase in Pisco Sour consumption in Peru over the past year, reflecting a growing appreciation for the drink. He also projected a 10% rise in pisco exports in 2025 compared to the previous year, with the U.S., the European Union, and Japan remaining the top markets for Peruvian pisco.

Beyond celebrating the iconic drink, Pisco Sour Day drives tourism and boosts the local economy. In 2025, visitor numbers to top attractions like the Ballestas Islands and Paracas National Reserve are expected to reach one million, solidifying Paracas as Peru’s second most-visited destination, after Cusco.

According to Peru’s Ministry of Production (Produce), Lima and Ica produce over 90% of the country’s pisco grapes, followed by Arequipa, Moquegua, and Tacna. These regions are key in preserving Peru’s centuries-old pisco-making tradition.
