Peru Adventure Tour 11 Days - Travel Information
Day 1 in Lima: early arrival is important
This tour starts with an early morning arrival in Lima so we can operate the Traditional Lima City Tour in the afternoon. We’ll meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel in Miraflores. Early check-in is not included unless confirmed separately, so we recommend keeping a small day bag with anything you may need before the tour starts.
What you will see on the Lima City Tour
The Lima tour focuses on the city’s best contrasts: colonial Lima, modern Lima, the San Francisco Catacombs, and the Miraflores boardwalk overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The Larco Museum is not included in this updated 11-day itinerary.
Day 2: Paracas, Ballestas Islands, and Huacachina
Day 2 combines the coast and desert in one exciting day. You travel from Lima to Paracas, take a motorboat tour to the Ballestas Islands, see the Candelabro geoglyph, and then continue to Huacachina for dune buggy and sandboarding. Breakfast is included, but lunch and dinner are not included, so you can choose your own meals during the day.
Ballestas Islands and sea conditions
The Ballestas Islands boat tour is one of the best wildlife experiences on the Peruvian coast, with chances to see sea lions, Humboldt penguins, and many seabirds. The boat schedule can change if sea conditions or port authority rules affect departures, so flexibility is important. Bring a light jacket because mornings can feel cool and windy on the water.
Huacachina dune buggy and sandboarding
Huacachina is a desert oasis surrounded by large sand dunes. The dune buggy ride is exciting, sandy, and bumpy, and sandboarding can be done at your own comfort level. Wear sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable clothes, and closed shoes if possible. Keep phones and cameras protected because sand gets everywhere.
Day 3: Nazca Lines flight and return to Lima
On Day 3, you board a Grand Caravan aircraft for a scenic flight over the Nazca Lines. The flight is one of Peru’s most unique experiences, but it depends on weather, visibility, wind, and air traffic conditions. If you are sensitive to motion sickness, eat lightly before flying and bring motion sickness tablets if needed. Your passport is required.
Cusco altitude and your first day in the Andes
Cusco is high, so your first day in the Andes is planned at an easy pace. Drink water, eat light, avoid alcohol, and walk slowly when you arrive. The afternoon city tour is designed to help you enjoy Cusco without making the first day too demanding.
Why you sleep in Ollantaytambo before the Short Inca Trail
Sleeping in Ollantaytambo after the Sacred Valley tour makes the next morning easier. You are closer to the train station and better positioned for the Short Inca Trail, which helps avoid an unnecessary early transfer from Cusco before the hike.
Machu Picchu circuits and entry times
Machu Picchu visits are controlled by official circuits, routes, and entry times. We reserve the best available option for your travel date, but the exact circuit depends on availability when booking. Optional hikes such as Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain require separate permits and should be requested early.
Luggage and packing for Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, and Lake Titicaca
For the Machu Picchu train, travel with a small overnight bag and leave your large suitcase stored in Cusco when possible. For Rainbow Mountain and Lake Titicaca, dress in layers because mornings can be cold, windy, and bright. Bring sunscreen, a hat, gloves, a warm jacket, water, and comfortable walking shoes.
Peru Adventure Tour 11 Days - FAQs
Is this tour a good choice for first-time visitors to Peru?
Yes. This tour is ideal if you want to see Peru’s biggest highlights in one trip: Lima, Paracas, the Ballestas Islands, Huacachina, the Nazca Lines, Cusco, the Sacred Valley, the Short Inca Trail, Machu Picchu, Rainbow Mountain, and Lake Titicaca. It gives you coast, desert, Andes, culture, hiking, and lake scenery in one organized route.
Is this trip private or small group?
It can be arranged as a small-group program or as a private tour. Small-group service is a great option if you want good value and a shared travel experience. A private tour is better if you want more flexibility, privacy, and a more personalized pace.
Are domestic flights included in the 11-day tour?
No. Domestic flights are not included. You will need flights from Lima to Cusco and from Juliaca to Lima. We can recommend the best flight times so your airport transfers, tours, and hotel nights line up smoothly.
What happens if my flight arrives too late on Day 1?
This itinerary needs an early morning arrival in Lima so the city tour can operate in the afternoon. If your flight arrives later, the best solution is to add one extra night in Lima or adjust the city tour if availability allows.
Where do we sleep after Huacachina and after Nazca?
After the Ballestas Islands and Huacachina experience on Day 2, you stay at a 3-star hotel in the Ica or Huacachina area, Las Dunas or similar. After the Nazca Lines flight on Day 3, you return to Lima and stay at a 3-star hotel in Miraflores, Casa Andina Premium or similar.
Are lunch and dinner included on Day 2 and Day 3?
No. Breakfast is included at the hotel, but lunch and dinner are not included on Day 2 and Day 3. This gives you flexibility to choose where to eat during the coast, desert, and Nazca portion of the tour.
Do I need hiking experience for the Short Inca Trail?
You do not need technical hiking experience, but you should be comfortable walking for several hours on stone paths, stairs, and uneven terrain. The hike is moderate, and your guide will keep a steady pace with time to rest and enjoy the views.
How hard is Rainbow Mountain?
Rainbow Mountain is usually the most demanding day because of the high altitude. The hike is not very technical, but the elevation makes it harder. Walk slowly, drink water, dress warmly, and follow your guide’s pace.
Can I add Huayna Picchu or Machu Picchu Mountain?
Yes, if permits are available. These optional hikes require separate tickets and should be requested as early as possible because spaces are limited. We will confirm availability before adding them to your booking.
What flight time should I choose from Juliaca after the tour?
On the final day, you have a private transfer from your hotel in Puno to Juliaca Airport. Choose a flight that allows enough time for the transfer, check-in, and possible local delays. Before booking flights, send us your preferred option and we will confirm if the timing works well.
