The Christmas spirit arrives in Cusco with a great celebration: the lighting of Peru’s tallest Christmas tree. Standing over 22 meters tall, this impressive installation will be inaugurated on December 1 at the iconic Coricancha Esplanade.
Next Sunday, December 1, Cusco will officially kick off the holiday season by lighting the country’s tallest Christmas tree. This festive symbol will take center stage at the Coricancha esplanade, one of the most emblematic locations in the imperial city.
“The tree lighting will feature children’s choirs singing Christmas carols in Quechua, dressed in traditional attire, similar to celebrations in major cities worldwide. Festivities will begin at 2 p.m.,” announced Rosendo Baca, president of EMUFEC (Municipal Festivities Company of Cusco), organizing the event.
The celebration will include not only the tree lighting but also activities that highlight local culture and traditions. Visitors can enjoy Quechua carols performed by children’s choirs in a vibrant setting filled with music, lights, and Christmas decorations that celebrate Cusco’s rich cultural heritage.
