The projects will be developed through a Public-Private Partnership. These plans will benefit 2.5 million tourists and help boost the economy in the regions of Cusco, Apurímac, Puno, Moquegua, and Áncash.
The most advanced project is the Choquequirao cable car, which will require a minimum investment of 220 million dollars. With this cable car, the number of tourists will increase to one million per year. This will generate 768 million soles in revenue from services such as lodging, food, transportation, and more.
This cable car will make access to the Choquequirao Archaeological Monument easier, avoiding the current four-day round-trip on foot.
Another important project is the enhancement of Áncash's historical heritage. Under the initiative "Sustainable Development Tourist Axis: Huascarán Cable Car," communities, producers, and businesses in the Callejón de Huaylas and Áncash will be connected. This project will require an investment of 100 million dollars and will feature a station circuit to improve visitor accessibility and experience.
Also in the plans is the "Cable Accessibility Service - Cable Car and Creation of a Cultural Recreation Space in Puno," as well as the Huchuy Qosqo Cable Car in Cusco and the Cerro Baúl project in Moquegua.
