First off.. our guide tony and Efrain.. they are absolutely AMAZING!!!! Their ability to accommodate each individual, each individuals camp site, food, any issues, and never left anyone last in the walking line. Very very good team comradary. If we could have extended our trip a few more days just to keep walking with them I would’ve paid double!! Every stop had a lesson and a laugh. The cook was incredible for our team and My partner! Incredible cooking team. Their communication with us was absolutely superb!
View full reviewThe BEST guided trek and amazing team. I could not recommend this trek enough and doing it through Trexperience. Our guide Tony was amazing, he had exceptional English, was very informative, looked after everyone so well and made the week very fun with lots of jokes and laughs! Our second guide Efrain was so lovely, very helpful and always making sure we were ok. The rest of the team including the chef Louis, were amazing. They worked so so hard and were always so happy to be there. I cannot praise the quality of food enough, it was delicious!! I am egg, dairy and gluten intolerant, and I never missed out, the chef always had something seperate prepared for me, and it was all so incredible!! So much delicious food and an all round amazing experience with incredible scenery!! If you’re booking a trek to Machu Picchu you MUST book this one, AMAZING!! (make sure you ask for Tony, Efrain and Louis - they are the best)

View full reviewWe had an incredible trip. Our original Inca Trail trip was cancelled and we joined the Santekay hike at the last minute. I believe this was a much better experience for us since the scenery was spectacular and the hike was slightly challenging which we appreciated. Our guide Daniel was outstanding as well as the other guides and support staff. We enjoyed the company of our fellow hikers and our group was more diverse than the many other tour groups we encountered on the trails. I highly recommend Trexexperience
View full reviewThis trip was nothing short of spectacular! My tour guides were Alex and Wilbert, they did an amazing job. Alex was particularly knowledgeable about everything to do with the land, culture and the hike itself. He was so aware of everyones needs and made it really easy to be honest about how you were doing. Wilbert was also fantastic, he was able to answer all the questions I had and was super reliable. Our chef, Ismael, was unbelievable. All the food was incredibly high quality and delicious. He had really great options for those who were vegetarian/vegan and did great with any allergies in the group. Every meal had a plethora of options and there was always plenty of food to go around. I was genuinely blown away by what we received for the cost of this hike. I would recommend Trexperience to anyone thinking of hiking Machu Picchu and I would hope you'd be lucky enough to go with Alex, Wilbert, or Ismael!

Exceptional Andean hospitality, shaped by people who know the trail from every side.
TreXperience is a 100% Peruvian, Cusco-based tour operator built from firsthand experience in the Andes. Our co-founder, Juan Coronel, started his journey on the Inca Trail as a porter before becoming a trekking chef and professional guide. This experience taught us a simple truth: a great adventure is not defined by just one element; it’s defined by how well every aspect of the experience is cared for.
From personal preparation and expert local guidance to fresh Peruvian food, thoughtful comfort, reliable safety, and respect for our team and the Andes, every journey is designed to make you feel supported from the first conversation to the journey home.
The Andes provide the adventure. The TreXperience Way takes care of everything around it.

We arrived in Cusco on Aug 22, 2026 for our 4 day private luxury Inca Trail trip with Trexperience only to discover that the previous week's torrential rains (unprecedented for this time of year) had resulted in tragedy in the mountains. Deaths on both the Inca Trail and the Salkantay route, along with enormous damage to the Inca Trail itself had resulted in the government closing the Inca Trail for an indefinite period of time. So there we were, in Cusco, after spending 9 months training for this trip, and we couldn't go. Thanks to Trexperience, and some quick thinking, by the end of that day, we had changed our plans to do the 5 day Salkantay trek instead. This was a major shift in logistics and support for Trexperience to arrange. Trexperience's flexibility and quick action saved our trip. In addition, we were treated like royalty by our local, expert guide Edy "El Puma" Pumacahua. Edy grew up in the mountains speaking the native Quechua and was a proud and excellent ambassador for his wonderful culture. In addition, when a member of our party needed some extra help with the high pass and steep descents (we are not young) he went above and beyond to ensure safe travel. Daniel our cook produced absolutely incredible meals (out of a tent!) day after day that surpassed anything we had in some of the highest rated restaurants in Cusco and Ollantaytambo. Before this trip, we wouldn't have believed food like that was possible on a trek like this. Marily Zoraida, our massage therapist, somehow repaired our tired bodies each night and always had a smile to greet us when she went zipping by on the trail to arrive at camp before us to set up. Our porters and muleteers completed the picture. While they were working very hard, it also showed that they were loving their job and, we believe, were being treated ethically by Trexperience. This is a 100% local company, run and staffed by locals who know these mountains inside and out. When we go back, they will be our choice again.
