Wow, wow, wow. Just completed the 4d/3n Inka trail. The Guides were superb with Monica and Alex, with a culinary superstar chef Julio. How he made his exquisite food on a mountain who knows? Superb. The porter team brilliant and worked so hard for us to have a brilliant time, adapting when needed. Monica is super woman…Santos head porter led his team seamlessly. A great family team all round with our fellow travellers . Well worth it coming through the sun gate to see MP. The best way
View full reviewRoger and Danielo from TreXperience were a dream team! Roger came to our hotel in Ollantaytambo the night before we took the train to mile marker 104 (106 is closed due to avalanche). Roger debriefed us on what to expect for our 2 day Inca Trail & Machu Picchu hike. He was extremely organized, which in turn helped our group of 14 hikers to be organized (and stress-free). A delicious breakfast, prepared by Chef Placido, was set up for our when we got off the train. Fresh fruit, oats, breads, Peruvian eggs, coffee, tea, etc etc helped to fuel us up before we began our hike. The first 3 hours of the hike are strenuous, but Roger did a great job with motivating us and recognizing/understanding when we needed to take breaks to catch our breath and take in the scenery. Danielo followed the group to make sure we were all safe and both men did an excellent job informing us on the history of the trail and keeping our spirits/energy high. We stopped at Winaywayna for some unbelievable views and exploration of Inca ruins. Roger gave our group another history lesson (with breath taking scenery), while Chef Placido made us a delicious lunch, with fresh Peruvian ingredients. *There are bathrooms (squatty potties) at this pit stop. Bring your own toilet paper!* Chef boiled water for us to refill and we set out for the last leg of the hike. This portion of the trail was not as challenging as the first part, and provided much shade. More vistas and Jurassic Park-looking flora. Just magical. Hug the mountain side as some portions of the trail are skinny. And you cannot rely on any ‘railings’ to support or hold you. The monkey steps, aka ‘Gringo Killer’ were challenging, but also rather fun and energizing bc we knew we’re getting close to the Sun Gate. Roger and Danielo graciously held our hiking poles as we pushed up the steep steps. When you make it to the Sun Gate, your breath will be taken away, and perhaps a few tears will be shed. Roger is an excellent photographer, and will make sure you get all of the photos that you want (& even ones you didn’t know you wanted)! Exploring Machu Picchu at sunset was very special. That golden hour across the mountain peaks is magical. The next day, our group watched the sunrise at Machu Picchu with circuits 2 & 3. Roger & Danielo came prepared for all of our questions and group needs. We couldn’t have asked for a better tour! Thank you Roger and Danielo and Chef Placido!!
View full reviewReview of the 5-Day Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu + Vistadome Train The Salkantay Trek was undoubtedly an impressive adventure, but what truly made this tour extraordinary was the wonderful group of participants and the outstanding team of guides, cooks, and porters. First, I’d like to commend all three guides, who did an outstanding job throughout the tour. On the third day, our group was split up, and we were lucky enough to be accompanied by David. David was simply extraordinary and exceeded our expectations in every way. With his warm personality, sense of humor, and infectious enthusiasm, he made every single day special. He was not just a guide, but a companion, motivator, and friend all at once. With his fascinating stories and the passion with which he spoke about Peru, he truly immersed us in the country’s culture and traditions. David didn’t just lead this tour—he turned it into an unforgettable experience that will stay with us forever. An equally big compliment goes to the cooks. What they accomplished day after day under the demanding conditions along the trek was simply incredible. The quality, variety, and presentation of the meals were at a level that many restaurants can barely match. After hours of hiking, we were surprised every time with fantastic food, and we kept wondering how such dishes were even possible in the middle of the mountains. We were also particularly impressed by the many thoughtful details that went far beyond what we expected. Hot water bottles for the cold nights, a cozy campfire under the starry sky, and marshmallows to roast created unforgettable moments and showed just how much dedication the team puts into caring for its guests. I also have the utmost respect for the porters. Their daily efforts are almost impossible to put into words. They perform grueling physical labor under challenging conditions and yet always ensure that everything runs smoothly. Without their dedication, a tour like this would not be possible. Their hard work, professionalism, and endurance deserve the highest praise. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team for this unique experience. For me, the Salkantay Trek was not just a hike, but an adventure full of special encounters, impressive experiences, and unforgettable memories. I can wholeheartedly recommend this tour.
View full reviewAlthough this was a physically demanding trip, it was one of the best experiences of my life. Abe, Wilbur and Alex were patient, kind and caring the food was amazing and the accommodated my vegetarian request, which was really very nice. Thank you for making this ship available.

View full reviewThe tour guide Jose Abad was very nice person, care, on time and excellent. Most of the drivers they sent are on-time, nice and helpful, except one driver who was supposed to pick us up from hotel to airport was about 15 min late. The hotel selected and agreed at the beginning (when we pay) in Cusco was changed in the last minutes along with the hotel in Lima that was supposed to be near the airport was moved to Miraflores; but, overall the hotel was Okay. It could be due to the initial agent who dealt with us resigned.
View full reviewWe did the two-day Inca Trail with TreXperience, with Frank as our main guide, supported by Raul. We had a wonderful experience on all fronts. The trek was nicely paced, the food was of good quality, and the guides were very attentive. Our daughter was unwell during the trek and Frank was amazing in terms of managing the situation. The overnight accommodation in Aguas Calientes was of a high standard, and again meal options were very good. The information provided by Frank on the second day when we toured the site was detailed and engaging, and the Vistadome rail experience made for a perfect end to the tour. Overall, our experience was very positive and we would highly recommend traveling with TreXperience, and in particular with Frank as a guide.
