Saúl Caipani, head of Gercetur, announced that bookings for tourist services, accommodations, restaurants, and tours highlight the strong interest the city is generating for Christmas and New Year celebrations in Cusco, Peru.
Recognized by the prestigious travel magazine Condé Nast Traveler as one of the best cities in the world to celebrate Christmas and ring in the New Year, Cusco is emerging as Peru’s festive epicenter. This recognition, rooted in the city’s rich culture and unique holiday atmosphere, reinforces the growing interest of global visitors.
The Plaza Mayor will be the main gathering spot starting on Christmas Eve, featuring events like popular art exhibitions. Hundreds of local artisans will showcase products including silverwork, paintings, and textiles, attracting both locals and tourists alike.

On December 31, the historic center will host New Year’s Eve celebrations. Attendees can take part in traditions like offerings to the Apus, walking around the square with suitcases for good luck, and enjoying the fireworks that light up the Cusco sky.
