The Qhaswa Raymi festival in Cusco is set to bring together over 100 delegations and generate an estimated S/20 million in economic activity. With the countdown underway, Cusco is preparing to welcome thousands of visitors.
Cusco is getting ready for Qhaswa Raymi 2025 – Champion of Champions, an event that celebrates the region’s rich cultural heritage and aims to position the Cusco Carnival on national and international levels.
According to estimates from the Regional Government, the festival is expected to boost the economy by approximately S/20 million, benefiting key sectors such as hospitality, gastronomy, and tourism.
Governor Werner Salcedo Álvarez announced that Qhaswa Raymi 2025 will feature delegations from 116 districts and 13 provinces, showcasing a vibrant display of music, dance, and traditional cuisine highlighting Cusco’s cultural diversity.
The main event will take place on March 23, with the "Champion of Champions" competition, where the best dance and music groups will compete for the top recognition, sharing Cusco’s artistic essence with thousands of attendees and visitors.
Official launch in Lima and government support
The festival’s official launch took place in Lima, attended by key authorities, including Congresswoman Ruth Luque Ibarra, Vice Minister of Foreign Trade Teresa Stella Mera Gómez, and representatives from the National Chamber of Tourism and the Chambers of Commerce of Lima and Cusco.
During the event, Vice Minister Teresa Mera reaffirmed the Peruvian Government’s commitment to promoting Qhaswa Raymi, ensuring state support for its continued growth. "We want Cusqueños to not only enjoy this festival but also benefit economically from the influx of more tourists," she emphasized.

Beyond its cultural significance, Qhaswa Raymi presents a major opportunity to strengthen the tourism industry. The festival is expected to increase demand for hotels, restaurants in Peru, transportation, and tour operators, creating jobs and driving local economic growth.
Organizers also highlight the festival’s international promotion, positioning Cusco not just as the home of Machu Picchu, but as a destination filled with history, art, and vibrant traditions.
