The children of the Qelqanqa community were at the heart of the community service that TreXperience carried out in the Sacred Valley of the Incas on Wednesday, May 27 of this year. Learn more about this initiative, which brought joy and plenty of fun to the little ones.
The Qelqanqa community is located 25 kilometers north of the town of Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, and 90 kilometers northwest of the city of Cusco. Situated over 3,900 meters above sea level, among mountains and high Andean peaks, the community thrives amidst grazing and farming. Here, Educational Institution 50621 Qelqanqa welcomes all the children of the community, led by its principal, Mr. José Carlos Quispe Aguilar.
Its remote location and the challenging access road made it almost impossible to provide a steady and timely supply of educational materials for the children.
Considering this situation and aligned with their core values, a group from TreXperience, representing the agency’s owner, Mr. Juan Carlos Coronel, and led by his nephew, Mr. Giovanni Coronel, visited Qelqanqa on Wednesday, May 27, bringing school supplies, teaching materials, and recreational resources to support the children’s learning. Little did they know, they would bring not only educational resources but also joy to all the children.
TreXperience Heading to Qelqanqa, Sacred Valley
The day began very early, at exactly 5:00 a.m., when the TreXperience team departed from the agency’s offices toward Ollantaytambo, a two-hour journey. From there, they took the route along the Patacancha River basin heading north, passing through other communities known for their traditional textiles, such as Willoc and Patacancha, before turning toward the higher areas where Qelqanqa is located, an additional two-hour trip.
Upon arrival, they were welcomed by the school principal and teacher Emerson Santos Pilco, who gathered all the children in the school’s small courtyard to welcome the TreXperience team. Tables were set up where, with the children’s help, all the donated educational materials were organized. Amid applause and smiles, Mr. Giovanni Coronel, together with TreXperience’s Head of Marketing, addressed the group, thanking the school for the warm welcome and officially handing over the supplies to the principal.
Next, each classroom at the school reciprocated this act of social help by giving away bags of potatoes to every member of the TreXperience team. The day ended with a shared meal made from local products, filled with laughter and camaraderie.
At the end of the day, the team said goodbye to all the children, promising to return next year, honoring the spirit that has always defined TreXperience’s community service: as we grow, we all grow.
