The Inti Raymi, Festival of the Sun, arrives in the capital of Peru with a special performance showcasing the grandeur of the Inca Empire.
To strengthen tourism and highlight Cusco’s rich cultural heritage, the National Launch of Cusco’s Jubilee Festivities and Inti Raymi 2025 will take place this Thursday, February 27. The event, co-organized by the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima, the Provincial Municipality of Cusco, and the Cusco Municipal Company for Festivities and Tourism Promotion (Emufec), will be held at the atrium of Lima’s Cathedral at 6 p.m.
This ceremony aims to reaffirm Cusco as the top tourist destination in Peru and South America, while also showcasing Inti Raymi’s significance both nationally and internationally. With over 180 artists and six musical ensembles, the event will transport attendees back to the splendor of the Inca Empire through a special performance titled "Festival of the Sun – An Invitation to Inti Raymi 2025."
Inti Raymi 2025: Reviving a historic tradition
"Bringing the Festival of the Sun to Lima means reviving a tradition lost in the 20th century. Today, the Inca, his qoya, and his imperial court give us a glimpse of this extraordinary celebration, which attracts thousands of visitors every year," said Miguel Molinari, a representative of the Lima Municipality’s Cultural Management Department.
During the ceremony, attendees will witness a stunning reenactment featuring the Inca and his royal entourage, who will perform a series of sequences inspired by ancient rituals honoring the Sun God, Inti.
This marks the second official presentation of Inti Raymi 2025, following its international debut at the FITUR International Tourism Fair in Madrid, Spain, on January 26 and 27.
With this event in Lima, Cusco strengthens its commitment to preserving and promoting its cultural heritage, inspiring more travelers to experience the magic of Inti Raymi and the legacy of the Inca civilization.
