Held on October 25 and 26 at the Caral archaeological site, north of Lima, in Peru, the celebration featured Dr. Ruth Shady, director of the Caral Archaeological Zone, along with other key figures and symbolic representations of ancient cities, such as the "Lord of the Sacred City" and the "Ladies of Áspero and Vichama." The main event, Caral Raymi 2024, included a traditional offering to Pachamama—a gratitude ritual for abundant harvests.

To close the event, visitors enjoyed artistic performances, including the Scissors Dance, Paso Horse shows, and presentations by the National University of Barranca (UNAB) in traditional dance and music. Guests also had the chance to purchase souvenirs and products inspired by Caral's heritage, which supported local businesses in Peru.

Event highlights:

  • Integration dance: On the first day, the Sikuris group led a symbolic integration dance in front of the Apu Gozne fire altar, immersing attendees in a rich ceremonial experience.
  • Guided tour and site enhancements: The second day included a guided tour, featuring modern additions like the visitor reception center, the “Tunnel of Science,” and the interpretive circle of the Sacred City of Caral-Supe.
  • Cultural promotion: Dr. Ruth Shady, joined by ambassadors from Switzerland, Germany, Finland, and India, emphasized Caral’s advanced scientific and technological knowledge and its historical significance.

Caral Raymi 2024 not only offered a glimpse into the past but also reinforced a commitment to preserving and sharing Peru’s ancient culture, leaving a lasting impression on those who participated in this unique celebration.
