Help TreXperience bring a global sustainability award to Peru! TreXperience has been nominated for World's Leading Small Sustainable Organisation 2026 at the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards (WSTHA), the sister event of the World Travel Awards. For the Cusco tour operator, the nomination brings international attention to its social responsibility and work with high Andean communities.
The WSTHA recognises people and organisations working to make tourism more sustainable. By sharing the stories behind their efforts, the awards help more people learn about their work and its impact.
Now in their third year, the awards give international recognition to practical solutions, new ideas that work, and measurable improvements across travel and hospitality.
For 2026, the programme makes it easier to take part while setting higher standards for evaluating entries. It has attracted more than 90 entries from over 35 countries across five continents. Participants range from large tourism groups and international destinations to startups, independent businesses, community projects, creators, and new industry leaders, giving organisations of all sizes the chance to have their work recognised.
And TreXperience is proud to be among this year's nominees.
Social responsibility behind the nomination
The category recognises smaller organisations that achieve lasting sustainability results with limited resources. TreXperience’s education projects, Christmas campaigns, environmental work, and support for women reflect that focus, showing how tourism can bring benefits to the people who call the Andes home.
In Qelqanqa, the team delivered school supplies, laptops, and printers in May 2026. In Cachiccata, it supported the school library and provided computers with internet access. These projects help children in rural communities access resources that support their learning and open up new opportunities.
Its Christmas campaigns also bring the team to remote communities to share moments of joy. In December 2025, visits to Cuyo Grande and Tucsa in Pisac brought games, gifts, hot chocolate, and panettone to more than 400 children, with local families joining the celebrations.
That community work has continued since the nomination. On September 30, 2026, TreXperience organised an oral health campaign in Patacancha for its porters and their children. Four dental professionals provided assessments, treatments, and advice of oral hygiene, followed by dental hygiene kits to support care at home.
Sustainability and women's empowerment in practice
TreXperience’s approach to sustainability management includes waste training for guides and porters, responsible water use, and trail cleanups. Its environmental projects also include planting more than 13,000 native tara trees in the Qente area of Qorihuayrachina, alongside work with local communities to care for restored areas.
Women's empowerment is another part of this approach. Women work as guides, cooks, coordinators, and travel advisors. TreXperience also connects travelers with women weavers in Lares and Chinchero, helping bring attention to their skills and the role they play in local tourism.
Together, these efforts show what social responsibility can look like in everyday travel: supporting education, caring for the environment, and creating opportunities for people across the communities connected to each journey.
