The full Peruvian Congress ratified, through the insistence procedure, the report on the new Tourist Ticket Law to increase the visits to Peru after debating and rejecting the objections submitted by the Executive Branch to the engrossed bill that grouped a series of earlier draft bills.
The law creates the Tourist Ticket and sets its management framework in each department of Peru, with the aim of encouraging visits to archaeological monuments, museums, and historic sites that form part of the national cultural heritage, while also promoting their conservation and enhancement.
During the debate, Jorge Zeballos, chair of the Foreign Trade Committee, highlighted that the new regulations include technological modernization measures, among them the digital issuance of the Tourist Ticket, which will make the purchase easier and strengthen the management of cultural and natural attractions.
The report was approved with 94 votes in favor, none against, and 17 abstentions. As it is an approval by insistence, the measure will not require another debate in Parliament.
