Over 12,000 tickets sold in the first days of virtual sales for Machu Picchu

The virtual ticketing system for Machu Picchu has been met with overwhelming enthusiasm from both domestic and international travelers. Over 12,000 tickets were sold for visits between January 1 and January 5, 2025, in just two days. On its first day, Thursday, December 19, 8,127 tickets were sold, followed by an additional 4,071 tickets on Friday, December 20.

To ensure that Culture implemented a staggered schedule for reservations and ticket purchases. The schedule to ensure a smooth and organized process for ticket availability is as follows:

  • January 3, 2025: Tickets are available for visits between January 6 and January 31.
  • January 13, 2025: Reservations open for February.
  • January 14, 2025: Tickets available for March.
  • January 15, 2025: Ticket sales begin for April.
  • January 16, 2025: Tickets available for May.
  • January 17, 2025: Tickets open for June.
  • January 20, 2025: Reservations available for July.
  • January 21, 2025: Tickets open for visits from August through December 2025.

This approach aims to improve the overall experience for users, preventing platform overloads and ensuring fair access for everyone eager to visit Machu Picchu, one of the seven wonders of the modern world.

Traveler assistance

The Ministry of Culture has set up multiple support channels to assist users with questions or challenges during the ticketing process:

  • Phone: (01) 321-5555 (within Peru) or (+51 1) 321-5555 (from abroad).
  • Email: tuboleto@cultura.gob.pe.
  • In-person support: Museo Casa Garcilaso, Calle Heladeros 165, Cusco.

This new strategy underscores the Ministry of Culture’s dedication to enhancing the visitor experience while protecting Peru’s cultural heritage. Planning not only ensures better management of visitor flow but also allows travelers from around the world to enjoy the majesty of Machu Picchu in Peru without complications.
