Machu Picchu tourism leads visits in Peru in 2025, with more than 190 thousand visitors in only two months

Machu Picchu tourism started in 2025 as the top of the most visited attractions in Peru. Between January and February, it attracted 191,351 people, consolidating its position as the most visited site in the country, according to the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism (Mincetur).

This figure represents an increase of 16.7% compared to the same period in 2024. In addition, 63% of the visitors were foreigners, while 37% corresponded to domestic tourists, highlighting the attractiveness of the Inca site both outside and inside the country and increasing tourism in Machu Picchu.

Mincetur highlighted that this growth reflects the constant interest in Peru's cultural legacy. Domestic tourism also played a leading role. The Sacsayhuaman esplanade received 135,336 visitors, marking a 9.9% growth, of which more than half (56.1%) were Peruvians.
