Cusco's Decentralized Directorate of Culture (DDC) reported an impressive influx of Peruvian and international tourists eager to explore one of the world's most enigmatic treasures, Machu Picchu.
Visitors from Peru and various countries spread out over the holiday, peaking on Saturday, March 30th, with 4,112 people. Furthermore, to integrate the local community into the celebration, over 200 Cusqueños had the opportunity to explore the archaeological monument on Sunday, March 31st, at no cost.
This year, a daily entry limit of 5,000 people was set to preserve the site's integrity, highlighting the authorities' commitment to heritage conservation and responsible tourism management.
The Holy Week in Machu Picchu went without incident, thanks to the vigilance and constant effort of the site's conservators, ensuring every visitor's experience was as impactful as it was safe. This effort emphasizes the synergy between tourism, conservation, and community in caring for one of Peru's most treasured assets, Machu Picchu.
